This CD edition of the Faculty of Artss in Niš, somehow considered a special edition, named "Medallions plus" features Trio ANIMA's unique performances of works by great Serbian composer Konstantin Babić (1927-2009) for small chamber ensemble variations: soprano - flute - piano; flute - piano; voice - piano; voice - flute - violin - piano. Despite a common opinion that best part of Babić's creative work is his choral opus (which places him among the most performed choral music artists and classic favourites), key elements and kind of light motifs of his composing manuscript and artistic expression - well shaped sound, humor, lyricism and impressionistic sensibility, elements of popular music (i.e. jazz), affinity towards folklore and Mocartean merriness, are also presents in other musical genres - instrumental and vocal chamber music as well as piano works.
The fourth discographic edition of the Faculty of Arts in Nis represents the accordionist Nikola Pekovic (Kraljevo, 1991), one of the most successful students at the Department of Music Arts, who began his teaching career at the Faculty of Arts at the position of a Teaching Assistant. Pekovic finished his undergraduate and master studies with honors in the class of Associate Professor Miljan Bjeletic. From the extensive concert activity of this young artists numerous performances can be recorded in Serbia, in the region (Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia), across Europe and around the world (Italy, Germany, Greece, France, Latvia, Bulgaria, Portugal, Spain, Russia, Ukraine, Belgium, China, Canada, Lithuania), awards at prestigious competitions (II place at the World Accordion Cup in Canada in 2013, II place at the World Accordion Trophy in Russia in 2013, II place at the International Competition Accoholiday, in Ukraine 2011/2013, I place in the third series of the competition I have talent in 2012, I place at the World Accordion Trophy in Spain, 2010), and many significant awards for his contemporary work (The Letter of the University of Nis for being the best student who graduated at the Faculty of Arts, Nis, in 2014, the Constantine's Tribute of the City of Nis and the company "Philip Morris" for the achieved academic success and community engagement in 2013, the Award of the Seperste/Erste Bank club from Belgrade for the most talented young people who move the boundaries of success in various fields 2010/2012/2014, the Medal of the Supreme Ataman of Russian Cossack Army 2012). Interpreting the transcriptions and the originals of a little-known works of accordion literature from different stylistic epochs (from Baroque to contemporary music works), Nikola Pekovic promotes the accordion as an instrument of exceptional technical and expressive possibilities.
