Mosaic is considered the most durable painting technique. Preserved mosaic forms from five thousand years ago confirm the longevity, whereas a change of artistic expression, construction method, of the materials used, environment and purposes, have only enriched it over time. It has become an irreplaceable witness of the past and a true document of different cultures and civilizations - not just of the generation in which it was created, but also of those that cared about it later, or not. Mosaics since the ancient period are preserved on the territory of Niš. However, these mosaics, as well as those more modern, are exposed to various negative influences, which go with a number of factors. The monograph is made from multiple chapters, each representing a valuable contribution because it initially follows the historical development of the mosaic through mosaic processing methods and techniques.
