MINA MENDELSON

MINA MENDELSON, MA (1978), graduated from the Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade, in the class of prof. Fern Rašković in 2000, and obtained her MA degree in 2003, and is currently a final year student of the doctoral studies in Violin. She has won numerous awards in the national, federal and international competitions. She has performed a great number of recitals in the representative concert halls across Serbia. She has performed as a soloist with the Belgrade String Orchestra Dušan Skovran, the Chamber Ensemble Mokranjac, with the Strings of St. George, and as a member of the same string quartet she has participated in master classes in London, in the class of prof. D. Takeno. As a scholarship holder of the Royal Norwegian Government, she upgraded her studies at the University of Christians and with prof. S. Grolmus and prof. S. Baradua, as well as at the violin master class of S. Krstić in Kotor, in 2003. From 2002, she has been engaged as the deputy concert maestro of the Belgrade String Orchestra Dušan Skovran. She has performed at Belgrade Music Festival (BEMUS), Music Festival in Novi Sad (NOMUS), at Ohrid summer, the festivals in Sofia, Bodrum and Sapanca, the Kalemegdan Twilights, the Art Against the War, and has recorded for Radio and TV Belgrade. Along with a solo and chamber concert activity, she has been dealing with the pedagogy; in 2002/2003 she was a violin teacher at the Music school Mokranjac in Požarevac. Since 2003, she has worked at the Faculty of Arts in Niš. She is currently in title of the Assistant Professor at Department of String instruments.
