On a crowded stage at the Fortress of Niš Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 was performed on June 15th, 2013, additional manifestation within the celebration of the Jubilee Edict of Milan 313-2013, Serbia. The audience's standing ovations greeted the musical forces of Niš, masterfully performing the piece of one of the most important German composer. The Orchestra of the Faculty of Arts in Niš, Niš Symphony Orchestra, the Choir of the Faculty of Arts in Niš, the Academic Choir of the Students' Cultural Centre in Niš, the Women's Choir SKC Niš, the Academic Choir Obilić from Belgrade, Niš Chamber Choir and the soloists, over three hundred artists on the stage at the Fortress in Niš sent a message of peace and tolerance. Prior to the ceremonial presentation of the concert, the audience was addressed by the Mayor of Niš, Zoran Perišić, who said he was particularly pleased that artists from Niš had the honor to perform the symphony, with the basic idea of unity and mutual respect, being the core values of the Edict of Milan. The host of the evening, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Serbia, Heinz Wilhelm said that tolerance was an essential element of that masterpiece, as well as tolerance was the basic idea of the Edict of Milan, the anniversary of which is celebrated this year. Ceremonial performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony was attended by the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Nebojša Stefanović, Minister of Culture and Information, Bratislav Petković, the members of the diplomatic assembly, as well as many people from cultural and public life.
